D7 EM: Old Equipment, older demons

Surrounding the enclave is the expansive violet forest in which it and many of the other locations of interest find themselves located within.

D7 EM: Old Equipment, older demons

On the suggestion of the sheriff of New Hope, a pair of Mandos find an old storage area. What once was a pristine and organized armory is now not so much. Hopefully the armory is still true.

Fitz woke up early, borrowing some salvaging gear from the enclave and heading off with Forte to see what New Hope had to offer.

((Make sure to roll that d6))

As you traverse your way thru the forest, the calm of the path encompasses you. It isn't too hard to follow the path, really; few turns here and there. Eventually, however, you do make your way to a small opening and standing upright, was a Separatist Multi-Troop Transport.

It was clearly blasted to hell, grounded forever within this spot, and with clear external damage. Nature had begun to claim it, the rust and vines growing on it made it clear. Still, there may be something worth finding in here if the village didn't already pick it clean.

"Nothing to it... but to do it." Fitz proclaims as he pulls out a Fusion Cutter he'd procured from the enclave before heading out.

He takes a moment to walk around the transport and assess it, seeing if there's anyway they could use the materials between the enclave and New Hope to recommission this beast.

While Fitz looks at the actual machinery, Forte takes a moment to look at the surroundings, maybe find a clue as to if this thing crashed or simply was abandoned

A quick glance thru the structure tells can tell you that the vehicle itself had some damage to it; blaster cannon hit the hovering mechanics, dropping it to the ground. However, all it seemed to do was merely ground it, not destroy the vehicle.

It's quite clear that the transportation isn't travel-worthy. Maybe if you had several months of dedicated work, figure out where to get the replacement parts and fix the holes, you could probably get it back up and running to some varying use. However, you know the town had reliable mechanic that brought B2-PD back up and functioning, and they knew about the transport, yet this was abandoned.

Still, it did seem like, although it was grounded, with a little bit of elbow grease and a little time, you could at least get the power back on to some degree.

"Maybe if we had some time without Imps breathing down our necks... we could make something of this." Fitz begins cutting away at vines and debris to gain entrance, "For now, we'll have to settle for anything useful inside."

"There doesn't seem to be any rush right now, but whatever is inside might change that. I have a cutter of my own, let me handle the vines, maybe the computers have enough power to extract something out of them."

He had a point there. At the very least, there might be a manifest to clue them into what might be found in the wreckage. Fitz makes he way into the transport and looks around for a terminal.

It takes a bit to cut thru the vines, but you can do it unceremoniously. Several small fluffy creatures run out of the holes in the meantime, as the disturbing of their nest has caused them to flee.

Thankfully, nothing dangerous has come with it.

Finally, you make a good enough dent thru it to enter the wreckage and explore the strange crash.

"Didn't see much on Nar Shaddaa, mostly just used our lanes and moved on... Seems to me like the separatists should've fared better with all these droids."

Fitz pulls out his glow rod and scans around. "Maybe we'll find some friends for our sheriff, give him some deputies to shore up New Hope."

"I didn't follow the robot talk too much, but there was something about these things initially being designed without a brain. Something about a central computer being a terrible weak point when it came time for actual war like conditions. They retrofitted the models with a brain and they couldn't manage too long in the field without getting 'personality'." Forte lights the way with his own glow rod, back to back just in case something inside starts moving.

Inside the MTT was a bit of a shitshow. Quite literally. The smell from the former occupants was rather pungent and noticeable, their feces areas reeking up the whole area. The quarters itself was also somewhat tight to move around; one was risking needing to hose down their armor before returning to the base.

Other than that, the B1 droids were lined up and stacked as they should be, although many did not survive the landing, having their parts scattered about. All were rusted and powered off.

The atmosphere was like entering a long-forgotten tomb, silent and still with nothing but your movements and the sounds of nature breaking the peace.

Fighting a strong urge to activate his respirator, Fitz considers the B1 droids for a moment. "If these droids were initially designed to operate off a central computer, perhaps I could slave them to the Sheriff's processing unit... Or, better yet, what if we could create a control unit for someone in the enclave to operate."

Fitz pulls out his datapad, consulting a few schematics, "There's a few implants I could draw from to create what I'm thinking of... I could combine and modify a cybernetic brain to handle the computations, a droid interface to... interface, and a Gank comm to relay commands..." He is silent another handful of moments while his hand speeds over the datapad making adjustments.

Looking up to Forte he ponders, "Perhaps I should make it an external device. If the operator were to become incapacitated, we would lose access to a significant resource."

"Definitely an external device. However, with the condition these guys are in, I think we need to not jump too far ahead. How many man hours would it take just to clean these parts?"

"Well... if we can start getting them booted up, we can use them for the labor of cleaning and repair of other units."

Fitz puts away his datapad and cautiously approaches one to start examining it. "I don't expect them to be on par with any of our warriors, but they should be suitable for some Imps. At the very least they could provide a nice distraction on the battlefield."
