[Day 4, MA] Words and Ways

[Meiyokashi]

A man sits in the middle of an expansive bar filled to the brim with pirates and vagabonds. His collar is neat as his drink and his gaze sharp as a knife. With ease he sips at the glass waiting for his line to pull taught.

(OOC: Garen is the primary character in this thread should be wish.)

[Mayrelli Fayedd]

Mayrelli was rarely far from a bar, improvised or other. Of course she never(mostly) flew inebriated or partied too hard (if she had work the next day). But this afternoon she'd stopped by the rest stop on one of her patrols and was now perched on a stool attempting to drink a heavily carbonated beer through a straw protruding from her helmet.

Two Mandalorians walk into a bar... it sounded like the beginning to the punchline of a joke, but it probably wasn't funny.

Garen was polite enough to leave his primary weapon at home, but he was still armored head to toe, as mandated by the code. His head swiveled as he looked around the bar, trying to spot their point of contact. Head tilted as he spotted the well-dressed man, standing out among the rest of the bar patrons almost as much as the Mandalorians. Almost.

Giving May a quick gesture, strode over to the man to stand in front of him. Waiting.

There wasn't a stir of motion from the man until they approached, and even when they did you could barely call it a stir. Setting himself up with authority even here among this rabble that might very well tear him to pieces if given the chance. Laying his glass down he turns, and rises to a stand of greeting extending his hand.

"I see our request bears fruit, a pleasure gentlemen. Might one of you be a one Garen Saxon? And the other?" he says, looking between both tin can bodies.

Slowly, Garen extended his hand for the shake. Precise, careful movements were necessary when wearing Mandalorian armor.

"I'm Garen Saxon." Garen rumbled, nodding. He turned, gesturing to May. "This is Mayrelli Fayedd." Stiffly, he turned back to the Imperial, if that's what he was. "And you are? We weren't given a name."

[Meiyokashi]

"Agent Stone, Intelligence," he says in return. His shake is brief and weak. Upon retrieving his hand Stone pulls a small flap-box out of his inner suit pocket, the kind one expects to be a cigarette case. Instead of a cigarette however Stone removes from it a napkin which he quickly uses to wipe off his hands.

"I've been asked to meet with you in specific to arrange a meeting, Mr. Saxon. Though my superiors also sought that I extend the hand of the Empire- an offer to wash your hands of this mess and join the winning side?" he asks, looking between both helmets and possessing no expectation that either would accept.

[Garen Saxon]

"Figuratively speaking?" Garen's smirk was almost audible. He wasn't the one who'd wanted to shake the hand of someone wearing a metal gauntlet. Of course, Garen suspected that the man would have wiped his hands even more judiciously if it had been skin against skin.

He shook his head. "We won't change sides. But you know that." Garen's tone was very matter-of-fact. "Well. I'm here." He shot May a quick glance, then refocused on Stone. "I have to ask, though. Why me?" In fact, how did they even know he existed? Someone had done their research, which could only be a bad thing. Garen crossed his arms over his chest.

"There is someone of the Empire who wishes to speak with you," he says, his displeasure with this situation leaking into his tone. "I am not at liberty to name them but they wished the opportunity so dearly that they pulled a number of strings to get me here. I can only offer you coordinates on where you ought to be so that they might arrive by convoy," he says, and with a restrained chill glances over toward Mayrelli.

"There is someone of the Empire who wishes to speak with you," he says, his displeasure with this situation leaking into his tone. "Ohhhh, so I don't blow it up. Right, gotcha, totally following." She nods vigorously. "So this bigwig wants to meet with Big G? Alrighty, well there better not be any funny stuff. Truce rules, right?"

[Meiyokashi]

"Precisely," he sighs, thinking better than to banter with the condemned. Rising in his chest with an inhale, a man whom regrets immensely what he must now do he bites the proverbial bullet.

"I have been instructed to remain here with you," Stone indicates Mayrelli. "Mr. Saxon here is to journey to the provided coordinates and await pickup. Once there he will board the convoy, speak with this individual, and then return promptly that I might return to my work."

[Mayrelli Fayedd]

"Cool. Well if that's all good with Garen I'll buy us some shots and we can get to know eachother. Reckon we'll be the best of friends by the time he gets back."

The pilot turns back to Garen to see if it was in fact all good.

[Garen Saxon]

Garen was silent a moment. Then he shrugged.

"Fine by me." He said. "May, I'll see you in a bit. Try not to have too much fun while I'm gone." He turned his head to look at Stone. "Right. The coordinates, if you please."

[Meiyokashi]

Stone offers up the chit from inside his jacket pocket with one smooth motion. Offering it to Garen, "I doubt it," he says to Mayrelli and then turns to face Garen proper.

"When you arrive simply press that button and the vehicle will arrive shortly. I do beg that you please hurry," his smile twitches slightly.

[Garen Saxon]

Garen accepted the chit wordlessly, examining it. He looked over to May, then back to Stone. "I should go." He said, his voice as rumbling as ever.

On the way out, he walked close enough to May to give her a comradely shoulder bump. She'd be looking out for him in a way. Had to show his appreciation somehow.

[Mayrelli Fayedd]

May bumps back with a nod. Garen was probably too solid to say something crazy and need a fiery extraction from the Imperials. But hey, a girl could dream.

"You have fun out there!"

Then she returns to the imperial spy and prepares to spend several hours trying to get him plastered.

Mayrelli would quite certainly find success in getting him to drink plenty but it wouldn't be fully apparent how successful she was in getting him drunk. After all, he was a man made for intelligence work. Still, despite his veneer she would be able to tell by times end she got him to loosen up a little more than he'd have preferred.

Meanwhile...

Garen would follow his coordinates out from the cluster of structures that make up Jaster's ResT Stop. Among the trees he would trek for about half an hour or more until he came up to a secluded location with a stone seat, naturally placed but wonderfully thematic, where he could rest when he sent off the signal.

Only question was if he did send it off, and what might be going through his mind about it.

[Garen Saxon]

There was no question as to if he was going to set it off. Once he arrived, Garen pressed the button without hesitation. If this was a trap, well, his life was worth the Rebuilders learning that they couldn't trust the Empire even an inch. And, well, he was less unarmed than he looked. He stood, choosing not to avail himself of the stone seat.

Who would he be meeting?

There was an obvious direction. Garen had worked for the Empire before, in his old life. Most likely, it was someone from his old unit, either brought in as an advisor, or now more directly working for the Empire. But who?

Garen considered as he stood there, waiting.

[Meiyokashi]

A modified armored troop transport world arrive some ten minutes later. Rolling up it crumples the forest floor beneath it, pulling to a rolling stop to allow troopers to disembark from the back and front encircling Garen. Four men total, all weapons raised to their sides given the threat a Mandalorian possessed.

At his front a door would open. A trooper just off to the side of the light bleeding out from inside of the vehicle speaks harshly.

"Get in."

Garen waited just long enough to hopefully make the troopers sweat a little bit before complying. He remained silent as he did so, except for the heavy tread of his booted feet.

Underneath the helmet, he permitted himself a tiny smirk before his frown returned.

[Meiyokashi]

One of the troopers behind him could be heard flinching a little, playing at his rifle- unsteady in his hands. That was a point of pride taken from one team to be granted to the other.

Stepping up into the craft Garen would find a regular troop transport slightly modified. At the center of the craft sat a ring housing a holoprojector. It would seem that for all this effort, it was still going to be a phone call-

The holo opens.
