Plasma grenades, IIRC, are just one big concentrated pew pew blaster shot with a larger area of effect. If there's something there that could be set ablaze, that could do it, but lore-wise it'd go just as quickly as it came.
That being said, Mei may feel it would be enough to give you something for your scene; I'm just here to give the technical deets.

If you trigger an item quality like Disorient, Ensnare, or Knockdown on a minion group, does it affect just one or the whole group? Since the attacks are considered against the group of minions, not an individual?

It would not illuminate it enough, no. Too quick of a pulse of light. You'd see where people/things are quickly, but it wouldn't help you aim your shot.

Depends on the source, but it would likely target the whole group of them.

If the darkness so that thick, would it be possible to move into it and establish stealth?
How far would we have to move into the cage to get the darkness applied to our defense?

It already is, these troopers are prepared with lowlight gear to manage the dark environment.

Can't believe I haven't asked this yet, but how much do we know about the events prior to the KOTOR games as characters. We are part of the culture that had a lot to lose from the war, but it also was thousands of years ago. Don't want to make a meta mistake, but this is super relevant right now

Events of KOTOR, and even for long after that, would be in the realm of intense Knowledge Lore rolls. The likelihood you know anything from that time period of you aren't a historical scholar of some kind is small.
It's akin to the age of myths and legends.

In the We go Left, and you stay right thread, are we in a position to be able to apply some first aide beyond stimpacks to Cha? Do I have time to do a preliminary medicine check and bandage him up a bit before we need to get out of the tunnels?
Secondary question. In the Healing rules, it mentions a maximum of two Medicine skill checks per time slot. Is that max of two checks from a PC, one each applied to self or another PC?

You are in a position to apply first aid, but best not to tarry.
There is only so much time in a time slot, and thus if the healing cannot happen concurrently it can only be two.
Two to one person. Two by one person. One to one person and then one to self. Two people cannot work on one person at the same time.

For the Von An event can relevant equipment apply to the appropriate rolls? (such as a toolkit which usually provides a boost to mechanics rolls applying a boost to the mechanics roll in the sensor room). Or is it purely skills/atts?

For future reference, can a talent like scathing tirade be used if there are no enemies within short range, but only work if you spend 2 advantage to increase the range of effect to medium?

Oh boy, Talents for Vode An questions...
Outdoorsman removes from Move through Terrain and Environmental Effects. I'm guessing that isn't what "ancient structure" means but I felt like I'd ask. Maybe for Hangar or Storage movement?
Forager might help with the Survival in the Galley since it's about locating food.
Expert Tracker for Perception in the Barracks maybe?

Outdoorsman, and Forager both get the green light for sure. I'd even go so far as to note that it fits perfectly for both. A lot of what you are also dealing with inside is natural things from water flooding into the compartments and then being flooded out when the ship was lifted out of the water.
I feel like Tracker is too much of a stretch considering the intents behind roll/talent.

What about using Master of Shadows talent from the Optical Camouflage System armor attachment to decrease the Stealth check by one for two strain.

In the case of Scathing Tirade it is worded as such that you perform the action and then spend the results, so yes. Though specifically for this use, how would you be increasing the range?

Allow me some time to consider it. I am not certain where my interpretation stands on the reading of the rule, and wanna make sure I afford all possibility.
