[Day 2 - Mid Afternoon] New Hope, Same Battle

[Claymore Wren]

"Yeah, much people call it arrogance or egoism. They're probably right, but I'm one the most at what I do. I'm expecting a few more days of scouting to get more intel, but there will be plenty of stuff you are good at soon enough. Maybe you can go hunting or something, if you are restless. Or we could go get drunk and get into a cantina room fight sometime...." Said with a shrug.

[Soleene Stryss]

"Nah, I skipped out on drinking earlier and with a pretty girl too. I think I'm going to hold to that as long as this is going on...which probably explains why I'm all edge right now," she sighed. "It's times like this I feel that I should hold off on potentially clowning around. I'd hate to go down just because my guard was down when the chips are on the table. I could consider hunting, there seems to be a wookie who's all into that. Maybe he'll let me tag along. I'm a pretty lousy shot and my ability to keep quiet is even worse."

"Sometimes one beer can take the edge off, but that is not for every situation. It's whatever you need to be focused on the task at hand, or coming tomorrow. Sometimes it's getting plastered with Veth, a joy ride, or building something new, for me... As for clowning around, that's pretty much just my way. But, live is too short to super cereal most of the time. You're young still, you're figure things out. I however may have more days behind me than ahead of me." staring off at the horizon. "So, bad shot, heh? We might have you to go to a shooting range then." He gave her a nod of his head.

"Oh, no doubt a beer would be awesome right about now. A shot. Or, a fancypants cocktail." She gave a shrug at that. "That sounds too good at the moment and I get the feeling it's best as a reward so that it tastes so much more sweeter. I don't know if we have much to celebrate about at the moment. Eh, maybe I should take it easy on myself."

"I do pretty fine with point-blank range, which is usually the 'negotiation range' anyway buy yeah, it's worth a shot...as they would say," she said without too much humour in her tone with her hand going to her side where she kept her sidearm. "Maybe I need something more fun, I know you use something on the high-end, right?"

"Oh, I have 3 pistols now. One was a relic from a long time ago, of inferior quality, as old CDEF company. I picked up a nice Dragoneye Reaper in Kamda, and did mod it a bit to fit me better. Then this here is my newest one." He pulled is pistol from the holster. "X-30 Lancer, fully modded. Long range, good accuracy and deals more damage than before. I'm very happy with this one." He put it back into the holster. "I've thought about building a rifle for myself, at some point. But, I haven't done it yet."

Soleene glanced at the modded pistol. "Huh, I don't know why I thought you would have a rifle but you just had it stowed away. It seems more like your wheelhouse, especially with how many things you could slap onto it. I'm sure the same could be said with a sidearm. I don't know if I need something that fancy, maybe something that isn't so hard to shoot and packs a punch. More the first half. Do you have a recommendation for something like that?"

Had a little chuckle. "I carry a most of tech to around to break into secure facilities, de-arming explosives, and slice serves, and much. And, you never know when you will run into a mechanical lock. The empire has them around. I do still use my shield, because I'm not the heartiest. Gotta keep limber for the stealth operations I do." He thought for a few seconds. "So, you something accurate and can still hurt... sniper rifles can do that, but they can awkward when moving around. A Galaar-15 Carbine is a good heavy range weapon. As for pistols, the DR-45 Cavalry Blaster is good. You can get them modded for more accuracy and damage also. I always use the mag tether, myself, so no one gets the drop on me."

"A shield doesn't sound so bad, and something I'm sure could come useful regardless of how many blasters you can take before going down. That said, I don't know if I'm so keen to have something in my hands for only defensive reasons," she said with a glance at her gloved hands for a moment. "Maybe something that folds or I can bash with."

"A DR-45 Cavalry Blaster?" she said as she made a note to herself. "Maybe I'll keep an eye out for one of those once I have enough credits. With a name like that, it sounds like I should get a bike too to match."

"Ha, or a bantha... Maybe a Nerf." He smiling. "The DR-45 was one I was looking into, but I wanted longer range, which X-30 has. The DR-45 is around 2,000 credits, so it's not cheap. But, I wouldn't want you using cheap weapons anymore. There are energy buckles that can give good defense. They can power down and use your hand normally."

"Bike sounds cooler and to be honest, I am kind of looking for an excuse to own one. Maybe I'll be competent enough to not crash it. So, Clay, you're not the only one looking to get their own ride," she chortled. "But baby steps first, obviously. 2,000 credits with no markup, I bet. Try finding someone with a department store around here but good to know how much it's supposed to cost before I get ripped off. Maybe I should take you shopping one day. Those buckles do sound pretty awesome too."

"Well, I would happy to to go shopping with you. Though, I believe it would also mean more work for me after we do." He said with a laugh. "Yes, the buckles are good, giving you what you are looking for. They aren't as reliable as a traditional shield, but its stay quite good to have. Oh, it's a good idea to have an extra reload clip, if you can, being another energy weapon."

"Hah, well..." Soleene let out a short chortle with a shrug. "I don't think everything I will buy will be mod related. Maybe I have you barter a deal where when I get to buying something, I'll get the labour for free? How's your negotiating skills when it comes to buying things for tinkering? You must get a volume discount somewhere."

"Yeah, I'm better at the art of deception than negotiation. I know I'm no match for a pretty Zeltron like you. I was typically the gopher to make sure the people I was working for didn't get swindled out of a lot of credits. And I dealt with a lot prototype technology. I was the one building additional ones or modifying them to better suit our purposes. I do have contacts that have come into possession of things that 'fall off the freighter', if ya catch my drift." Clay said with a wave of his hand.

Soleene dismissed that notion with a physical wave of her hand. "Eh, being pink isn't as easy as it seems. I know I'm probably more likely to get into trouble than not when it comes to negotiating things. I'm not exactly the glamourous sort of Zeltron. Good thing we have Mandalore and close kin speaking for us, right? But it sounds like you know your way around dealing with things well enough. I'm sure we should be buying our things from back alleys rather than store fronts. It might do well to keep a lower profile in the next few days."

"Hum, I guess, the armor could adverse affect your pheromones, and most people don't even know they are in the presents of a Zeltron with your helmet on. But, yes, you are correct about keeping a low profile. I barely have two credit chits to rub together today, but there might be a few chancing to get some more in the next few days." He said looking at her.

[Soleene Stryss]

"...That's something I'm okay with, to be honest." She said with a sigh. "I don't want people to get all sorts of funny ideas just because I'm pink on the inside. Trust me, the only sort of cozy I'm used to is putting people's faces against my fists. So, you're a bit short on credit too, huh? I can't say I'm all that smart about spending my money. Maybe I should stop turning down credits as a start. We're not exactly open to charity at the moment."

"Well, once upon a time, my species were slaves and more Arkanian stay look down on us Offshoots after 3,500 years or more. It ain't all that being the color of snow. I don't know, maybe that was part of why Kaylela tricked so well." He said thoughtfully. "Yeah, I may have spent a few too many credits with my last spending spree... But, I have most everything I could want for my onw personal equipment now. So, other than a scope I would like to get, all my credits will be for my ship fund." He said with a happy under his helmet.

"Right, kind of silly for me to forget," she said with a shake of her head, not all of them were exactly human underneath the helmets. It was pretty lucky of them to blend in so well around Imperial territory but raise other questions. "I guess none of us really have it so easy. And how's saving for that going? How close are you exactly? I'm kind of surprised that you didn't have a talking to with one of Mandalore's hands. Get you started on contributing to the fleet. Then again, I think acquisitions are pretty slim at the moment."

"Oh, right now I have about 250 credits to my name. But, I have the best gear start making more with my talents now. Veth knows I get restless at times, so she does what she can to let me out and do runs for materials and gear. My speeder was a bit of an impulse buy, so would be a little farther along than I currently am. But, I'm happy with that particular purchase." He said out of hand. "I wasn't really working towards it, until now."

"After how you did in the race a while ago, I'd say it's less of an impulse buy and more of an investment for the future when you're feeling like showing off to other supposed gearheads to show them a bit of what's what." She tilted her head up for a moment with a snickering sound. "But I was asking more about your ship. I suppose you're not all that far along, kind of hard when you've got other projects to build on and other ones that people might ask of you. Not that like we can exactly afford any free time right now."
