[Varina Ordo]

It took a lot of humility to dedicate oneself to a cause. That was exactly why Varina had gone to the bar to engage in revelry instead of figuring out how she could best help the Enclave! Well, at least if her maybe-girlfriend didn't have something important that needed doing. It would be a huge drag if that were the case.

[Meiyokashi]

A night of drinking and revelry was exactly what was promised. A good time out to have a little fun while they watched to see what more fun they could have bloodying the Empire's fist as it came down.

Except.. where was she? Sure, it's a hive of scum and villainy. One where so many faces pass you by that it's not so strange to have a hard time finding someone but Rezzie was a Chiss AND a Mandalorian. There wasn't a being in the world that should struggle spotting either of those our of a crowd... And yet?

Wasn't I supposed to be helping with something else? Whatever it was, it was probably something stupid like asking people for help. She didn't need anybody!

Although lately she had been trying to be more of an asset. How else could she lord it over everyone that they needed her help? Life was so hard sometimes that she just kept drinking away instead of committing more to looking around. Rezzie, like Varina, was supposed to be able to take care of herself anyways.

Setting down the second of Varina's drinks Elmira flips her bar towel over her shoulder as she leans in. Rest palms against the edge of the tabletop she offers a kind smile, "You not come in with your friend today?"

[Varina Ordo]

"What's it to you who I hang out with?" Varina blew the strands of hair that'd fallen over her face. Maybe it was time to shear it all off. "Or are you going to put me in the know about all the random stuff people do around these parts?" She shook her head. "Gossip for gossip, right?"

[Elmira]

"Well," she smiles, and steps back a little. Grabbing an empty glass to dry out while they chat. "If I'm being honest, there are only a few types of folk that come here to drink alone and every one of them is dangerous when they swing blasters on their hip. One of them tho- well, that type can often just need a little sympathy from a warm heart."

[Varina Ordo]

"Most of then have hearts colder than the vacuum of space." Varina placed her hand casually on her propped up leg, close enough for an easy draw from her boot knife. "So I guess my next question is: Anyone have a price on their head?" Hunting down a bounty wasn't something she actually felt like doing but she might as well ask.

[Elmira]

"Not any anyone around here got the means or care to lay darlin'," she says, a conciliatory smile granted her way.

"Course.. maybe someone could, but that's not the kind of work I think you want to be getting caught up in. Some rich folk who want fun, and some bad folk who want trouble, not a whole lot of stuff that doesn't come with complications.."

[Varina Ordo]

"Could have just said no," Varina said, sighing as she seized onto her beer. She looked it over with more intensity than was deserved for an inanimate object. "More like my friend's thing, admittedly. Sometimes I am looking for someone... You didn't happen to have a similar conversation with her, did you?" She took a quick sip then licked her lips. "I'm sure you would have told me by now."

[Elmira]

"Could have, I suppose," she says, a touch of awkwardness in her smile but there was still that amicable warmth there.

"Your friend was readying to find a spot to settle in but stepped out for a bit an hour ago I think. Thought she went to go find you but I'm guessing now that isn't what happened," she shrugs.

[Varina Ordo]

Varina closed her eyes and sighed. "Of course." She slid her beer over without much care for a potential spill before retrieving her comm. If all went according to plan, then this little detour could be corrected shortly.

A single question mark sufficed for a message. Then the comm landed on the table too. "This place is kind of a dump," she muttered, leaning back in her seat.

[Elmira]

Elmira smiles like a woman who realizes she starting to get it, to understand the way different people work sometimes.

"It isn't that bad, considering what it came from. Worrying about your friend?" she asks, raising a brow.

There is no response.

[Varina Ordo]

"Not worried at all," Varina said before taking a sip from her beer. She wasn't the worst liar in the galaxy but, well, her attitude didn't make her level-headed about it either. It's just not like her to be like this.

[Elmira]

"Right-" she says, laying in the word easy. There's a touch of a smile but she hides it, and it's easy to hide because of the memory. Sighing warmly she lays the glass down and leans back into the bar, closer to Varina.

"My brother never worried about anyone either. Shame was, being so distant from everyone he never allowed folk to lean on him. Cause of that he never got to learn that he had a kid before he died," she says, and as if to lend credibility to the story looks across the open room to a young punk of a girl who walked about like she owned the place but also had no connection to the woman who actually did.

"I'll make it easy for you. You want me to ask around about your friend?"

[Varina Ordo]

"Sounds like he let somebody in enough so that he'd have a kid," Varina said, eyes lowered. "And he got off lucky, not having to worry about raising them either." Things with her mother had gotten better than years past. Still far from the ideal, whatever that really meant.

"It's easy for me to say no too. She's fine, I'm fine."

[Elmira]

" Alright then. Stay here alone, not knowing if things coulda been better. If someone mighta needed you," she says, casting a glance around.

"Not all parents don't wanna be there. My brother woulda wanted to meet her. She deserved that much too."

Moving off, Elmira tends to a couple of newcomers at the bar.

[Varina Ordo]

"If somebody needs me, then they came to wrong person. All these hands are good for is killing." Varina held them up as if the stains were still there.

After she left, Varina slinked back into her spot. Her mind wandered to the father. Poor man had never been enough for her. How often he thought about that, well, how could she know when she was so far away? And it'd even been awhile since she had needed, or wanted, to ask him for anything.

[Elmira]

It wouldn't be long, but Varina would find herself alone for all sorts of contemplation. Elmira would return with a flask of water. Setting the flask down in front of Varina without drawing attention to it.

"Nikto across the bar saw her leave about an hour ago through the south exit. Pointed out that she was followed out by 'that other blue girl', so maybe another Chiss?", she shrugs. "Care or don't. You gotta choose one or the other eventually, and take it from me who's seen it--" she directs a glance around the whole wide room around them -" folk who choose not to care wind up miserable or in a ditch. Dare to care kid. It's scary. Probably too scary for a pipsqueak but I'm no judge."

[Varina Ordo]

Varina, as she often did by her lonesome, sulked in her corner until otherwise interrupted. The news struck her hard, particularly when she heard about another Chiss.

Only one thing kept her from jumping into action: her image. Varina put her feet down and looked at the door. "Sure, sure. Put the drinks on my tab, okay?" She checked her different holsters and sheaths before looking back up. "Uh, yeah. Bye."

[Elmira]

Elmira leaves her to her devices after that. Returning to the rest of the bar, and the denizens therein.
