[Day 0 - Early Afternoon, Bunker Door] Desk Job

[Soleene Stryss]

Now this kind of brought back vague memories of the only desk job she managed to hold. Her old workplace would typically give her vague excuses about needing to fill in for someone whenever they needed her away from her usual duty at the club, often to blow off steam or keep the heat to a minimum. It was as boring as she remembered it, too. People-watching wasn't typically her thing, especially when she would rather not have someone watch her at all times.

The threat wasn't so much within the bunker but outside, which was a bit less exciting watching specs of dust or insects flying through the foreground of her view. Still, better that than an Imperial shuttle or Star Destroyer.

[Varina Ordo]

Another vague memory must have been Varina slinking around wherever she went. She kept her hands buried in her jacket pockets, supposedly casual, but always looked like she didn't want anyone to watch her.

And while she didn't actively try to sneak up Soleene, there was an idle curiosity if she'd notice Varina stepping closer and closer...

While Soleene might have been less than entertained by what was shown on the monitors of the view outside of the bunker but she was nevertheless strangely enthralled, if only by duty. Or she managed to blank out. Regardless, it was perhaps enough for Varina to actually sneak up on her.

She did snap her attention to her when she approached, her helmet more than enough to hide her reaction before she straightened in her seat and cleared her throat. "...Varina, hey there. What are you doing here?"

[Varina Ordo]

"What do you mean? Of course I'd be here to save all of your butts," Varina said, rocking back and forth on her feet. "Beside, it's about time I see everybody before you somehow forget about me."

She looked Soleene up and down. "Ever yet sweaty in there? Like damn, I hate the smell after a while."

[Soleene Stryss]

Soleene groaned briefly on that note. "I don't mean here. I mean here, right now. This isn't exactly a place where you can have all that much, or find trouble for that matter. I'd say that you were looking for me specifically but I going to doubt that if anyone can just poke me on the comms. Forget about you? What? Are you planning on wandering off again?"

"Ayep. I strap myself with a few cool packs for good measure, obviously, but I'd rather be all suited up than try to fumble getting this helmet on if anything happens," she said with a gesture to the various screens she was looking at. Nope, still no Imperial transport or Star Destroyer here. "I'd be really embarrassing to die like that."

[Varina Ordo]

"I can't just wander around the base? What, am I supposed to be under close watch?" Varina crossed her arms, complete with a huff. "Whatever. I'm here, not looking for you, by the way. You're, like, just some person who likes to punch people... Like the rest of us."

Varina scratched the back of her head. "Uh, I think we'd have enough time to prepare. And if not, then we'd be incinerated with or without our armor on."

[Soleene Stryss]

Soleene seemed to cast a direct look on Varina through her helmet. "I never said you couldn't wander around the base. It's not an interrogation, just a general question. A conversational starter of sorts or something to talk about. You must get that, right? Or not."

She crossed her arms at Varina and leaned back in her seat slightly with a bit of added creak for further effect. "Aren't you the pragmatic one? Okay, so what would you rather have everyone do on duty? If I could throw down in something more casual, I'd consider it."

Entering into the room wish a rush, Veth looks immediately toward where Soleene is sitting and talking with Varina. Walking on over with all the care of presence one would expect from a lifelong mechanic she walks straight into the middle of the pair. Focusing in on Soleene with a hurried, "Move your shit," she helpfully waves her hand to indicate the whole of Soleene.

Soleene let out an annoyed groan when the mechanic walked in with the intent to do, what she assumed, was something related to her job. She rolled her chair away from the monitors while keeping her attention on Varina.

[Veth Eldar]

Dropping to her knee then twisting at the hip Veth lays backwards underneath the desk that Soleene was sitting at. With the side of her fist she smacks hard against a space underneath the desk and there's a satisfying clicking sound as something heavy shifts. Collecting the weighty object into her hands she slowly starts to shimmy out all the while paying no mind to either of the women nearby. In her hands is an old looking bottle of some kind of dark liquid with no label on it. Only leaving the shape of the bottle to indicate that it is probably alcohol.

"Yeah, well, I just think it shouldn't come as a surprise anymore that I go wherever I feel like. It's, like, kind of my thing." Varina looked away sheepishly. "Shouldn't get too attached to your armor, by the way. Never know if you suddenly have to fight someone who snuck into your ship or something."

Varina scratched the back of her head as the mechanic went to work. How come Soleene doesn't give her crap for this? Ugh...

[Soleene Stryss]

"No, I'm not exactly married to it or anything. You make it sound like I shower or sleep in the thing. I just figured when I'm feeling a bit serious, I put on a little more than just having something to stuff my pockets in. Thankfully, we have the numbers this time and we're not exactly at some seasonal rental we found on the holonet in the middle of nowhere. Whatever, I've never been exactly military and don't think Mandalore is exactly a stickler for such things. You do you and let me do me," she gave a shrug of her shoulders. The reason she joined the Enclave was to find a semblance of order in her life. If she wanted to go around being a fully-grown delinquent, she could have exactly kept on walking.

"So, you many friends around here?" She asked curiously as she gave a glance at the monitors passively. It was hard to know where she was really looking with the helmet on.

[Veth Eldar]

"Thanks kids, play nice," she says, her voice is definitely feminine but on the rougher edge of the scale. Almost like she had a little dirt in it. With her bottle safely secured Veth didn't leave much potential to being stopped on her way, and quickly made her exit back to whatever she had been doing prior.

Varina rocked back and forth on her feet. "Yeah, okay, sure." It wasn't like she enjoyed being told what to do either. Living among a bunch of others instead of on the streets was exactly why she felt they could go without armor... Though being in public and a bit incognito was also why they didn't wear armor. Where could they even wear armor anyways?

Mandalore System, probably. Guess that was why everyone wanted to get it back.

"Why you bringing up my friends anyways?" Varina asked. "We're talking about being among a bunch of friends and family, aren't we?" Definitely no sarcasm there. Nope.

[Soleene Stryss]

If a frown could be so evident through her helmet or through her body language alone, it would have been made obvious by Soleene.

After a beat, she would give an open shrug at the response. "I was just curious, that's all. It wasn't meant to be an interrogation in the slightest. Just call me an optimist as I figured that even a girl like you must have some bonafide friends around here. You don't have to share them. I get it, you have to make sure that someone like me doesn't go around asking them questions too."

[Varina Ordo]

"I just got here and it's my first time on this dump of a planet m," Varina admitted. "Only ones I know around these parts are you people." In a spurt of restlessness, she started analyzing the monitors too while pacing about. "You are the type to interrogate someone, though. Got that menace to you."

[Soleene Stryss]

"If it was a dump of a planet, I don't think we would be staying here for long, especially with Imperials breathing down our necks anytime soon," she said before giving a momentary glance to the monitors.

She did a tilt of her head. "And me, menacing? I can't say I ever thought of myself as the type. Okay, hey, maybe I am. So do you have any suggestions about appearing, I don't know, friendlier?"

[Varina Ordo]

"I thought we were here for something specific. Then we'd leave after getting it." Varina sighed. "Not that the glorious leader is ever super clear on things."

Though the topic of menace amused her. "What? You're not seriously looking to me for advice, are you?"

[Soleene Stryss]

"Well, yeah, that too," she gave an incline of her head on that note. "Still, it can't be that much of a dump if we're still staying here for that. It's a bit more than just an inconvenience, considering that I'm sure they'll be a few skirmishes to defend it. Barring a sudden miracle in progress, at least."

Soleene gave a shrug of her should. "Eh, I'm just curious if you had something in mind. I've gotten this far along, so I can't say I'm exactly looking for much of a change either. Being brighter, friendlier, or more approachable just doesn't sound like me. I also think there are a few people here who already fill that role nicely."

[Varina Ordo]

"The whole goal is to eventually have a home, right? Like the actual planet?" Varina scratched the back of her head. "I'm betting it'll be more than just skirmishes, yeah. Rivers will run red and all that."

So on that note, it wasn't easy to talk about being personable. At least, giving tips about it. "Eh, don't change then. When I really think about it, it's none of my business."
